It's July and it's finally HOT!

It's July!

Yes...it's finally "summer" here in the PNW. The heat is on. We're vacationing, gardening and yarning.

I love the attitude of die-hard knitters & crocheters.

  • The weather won't seem to change over from spring to summer. No worries. They knit.

  • Tempertures shoot into the 90's. No worries. They crochet.

  • It's too hot to knit afghans. Shoooot. Give folks socks, a tank top or a Fixation tankini and yarnies are there.

Our Yarn of the month is Cascade's light weight Sierra.
The fiber content is 80% pima cotton and 20% wool. And it comes in 80 colors! We carry several in the shop and we have the color card on hand for you to choose a custom color.
Receive 10% off all month long!

Our patterns of the month come from Oat Couture and are quite fitting for the intense heat. This beautiful tank can be knit or crochet.

Our gadget of the month is a fun one. Many of us like to sip a little Chablis while knitting/crocheting. You're with friends. It's the end of the day. The lights are low. (Well, not too low.) The music jazz is smooth. But who's glass belongs to whom???
Try these wine glass markers with cute little yarny charms!

Our book of the month is the classic Elizabeth Zimmerman's "Knitting Without Tears". Zimmerman's book is popular because it's great for new and experienced knitters.

Enjoy July with Yorkie Yarns by taking a class you've been "dyeing" to attend. Comes see our summer yarns and whip up something quick and easy for our 2 days of summer. *smirk*

One of the highlights during our heatwave is when many of us get together for Stitch N Pitch on August 7th. Yorkie Yarns has a block of 30 seats. This should be a blast! Call and get yours at YY while supplies last.

Have safe and great 4th!

Yorkshire Yarns WWKIP BBQ this Saturday!

World Wide Knit In Public Day is this Saturday, June 14th.
To celebrate Yorkie Yarns is having a BBQ!

Join us at Harry Todd Park when the "picknitting" & BBQ begins at 3:30pm this Saturday, June 14th. Bring the kids, neighbors, frenemies, postal worker and your favorite barista.
Well, the barista is optional.
What's not optional is your food. :-) Bring your favorite meat, chicken or seafood to grill and a side dish or two for your group. I'll provide the drinks, dishes and music. (No. I'm not singing. There's nothing like a good old fashioned boom box.) Oh! Don't forget your knitting and crochet! Please RSVP me so I can know how much Kool Aid to bring.
And if it rains, fahgettahboutit.

Folks, as we continue SOCK Month at YY let us remember that this Friday, June 13th & 20th begins our 2-part class for knitting 2 sox on ONE circular knitting. This is a great class for those of us who have SSS (second sock syndrome). By knitting two socks at a time when you're done you're DONE. Sign up and receive 10% off all your class supplies.
As usual, space is limited so if ya snooze....

Yesterday was Heather's 12th birthday. (Heather is our tweener.) She took advantage of her 20% birthday discount at Yorkshire Yarns. Say what? YOU have a June birthday as well? No problem. During your birthday week come in and get 20% off any amount of regular priced yarn and have a stupendous birthday on us!

***HEADS UP! Saturday, June 21st we have sock yarn guru Wendee of HAZEL KNITS visiting YY! Come see her new colors and trunk show and meet the woman behind the
Yarn Harlot Hazel Knits hysteria. :-)

Check out our new SOCK yarn.
FLAT FEET
(this sock is knitted from...well, a flat "skein" of yarn.)

&
RIO DE LA PLATA
(437 yards of hand dyed merino goodness)

Have a great ridiculously chilly June week!
(sup with thhhhhat?)
