This pattern was designed by Son of Stitch & Bitch designer, Jennifer Hagan. Here’s a good way to use a small amount of luxury yarn, or just a little of your stash. Monday, August 20, 2007

Hey, all!

It's almost Tuesday already and we're off to a running start this week at Yorkshire Yarns. This is a quickie email to fill you in on the happenings at YY.

1. We're starting a new birthday celebration program. During your birthday week we'll give you 20% off your next purchase just to say thanks for growing old w/us. (NOPE. This does not include sale items. Saaaaaaawy!) There's just one catch. Well, two. You must be on our email list and you must send your birth date back to me via email. Relax. I'm not interested in your birth year. (We have one customer who swears she learned to knit during her trip on the Ark. heh...heh..) Anyway, if you're old enough to knit that's good enough for me. And I promise not to post your business on our blog. *wink*

2. Beginning Monday, August 27th, we're having our first weekly Military Spouses Needle-worker's Club. We'll crochet, knit & chat from 11-1pm. No need to RSVP. Just show-up and prepare to relax and have some girl time.

3. Crochet & chat on Friday's from 1-3pm.

4. This week's classes include:
Tues/Thurs- Beginning Sock class at 1
Wed- Beginning Crochet class at 1
Saturday- Beginning Knitting at 1

***ALL classes have limited space and require reservations as each fills-up quickly.

For calendar details visit www.yorkshireyarns.com or call 253-589-9276.

Have a great week, people. I surely plan to do so. Join me. Won't you?

They're new. They're Charming. And they're in at Yorkie Yarns!

Harry Potter fans, the wait is over. The new "Charmed Knits" projects book is in at Yorkshire Yarns. I ordered several books along w/the corresponding yarn & colors for each pattern.

I confess, I've not read nor have I seen any HP books or movies, respectively. I mean, come on. Who has time??? For example, tonight we had family night at the movies and saw....you guessed it...."The Simpson's". Trust me. It was killin' me sitting through that movie knowing "The Bourne Supremacy" was playing in the cinema next to us. *sigh* I digress.

Aaaaaaaaanyway, you've gotta see these books. As the kids would say, "They're tight. They're siiiiiiiick!"

The skill levels for the patterns range from beginner to psycho experienced. It's time to look ahead for BACK TO SCHOOL. I'm knitting one of the HP scarves for my daughter's 1st day in middle school. I'm quite sure her new, cool, tight, sick scarf will catapult her to the top of the popularity food chain. Hey, it could do the same for your darling divas as well. :-) Even better, this book is inspiration for young hands to start knitting!

I'm selling the merchandise quickly so you should hurry and come in and get the hook-up before I run out of books & yarn. (eh...that means "get your copy today!")

okay...that's enough cool talk for me. My brain is tired.

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

August already???? Time for another project!

Ya know... the best way to improve a skill is to practice that skill and surround yourself w/people who are experts in the field. I've been incredibly blessed to have met & mixed with the most gifted needle workers in the Pacific Northwest. My new friend, Sue, is one such talent.

I discovered Sue's blog a few weeks back and fell in love w/one of her knitted FO's (finished objects). She's crafted several versions of Fiber Trends' "Landscape Scarf". My mouth dropped open as I gazed upon it's colorful and masterful beauty.

And then....one day....Sue walked into Yorkshire Yarns. I didn't even give her a chance to pet the yarn before I said, "Hi Sue Knits!" After seeing the puzzled look on her face I decided to let the cat out of the bag. Soon I asked her if I could feature her beautiful scarf on the YY blog as our August project of the month. Not only did Sue say yes but she offered to come and show her many versions of the scarf. She's created the "Landscape" w/beads, tassels, & picots. Seriously, you've gotta see these.

Sue will join us during our Hooks & Needles Club on August 6th from 6pm-8. The pictures shown on the side of this post are beautiful but do NO justice to these drop-dead beauties.

Our crocheted pattern is just as stunning. The model (made by m'girl, Stayce) will be displayed August 6th as well. Stayce's 1st in-shop, crocheted shawl has been on my mind since seeing it back in April. It too is breath-taking. The picture does her work NO justice.

Okay...so don't miss August's Project of the Month. And join us each Monday for Hooks & Needles and get your craft on. :-)

We're reading book 2 in the Debbie Macomber yarn shop trilogy. The book of the month for August is "A Good Yarn" . I've already started reading it. ...oh my gooooooooodness. :-)

Oh What a Night!

I guess it's time to brag....eh....blog about our wonderful evening w/Debbie Macomber. Frankly, she's awesome. She's a woman who's truly in touch w/her audience.

We set-up our new room w/wall to wall chairs and not one was empty. Mrs. Macomber came in and immediately captivated all of us w/her at easy charm, wit and conversation.

After speaking for a good while she was gracious enough to sign a LOT of copies of her books.

We hope to have Mrs. Macomber back some day soon. Keep an eye on this spot for some fun pictures of our exciting evening.
